I am going to have a competition called “Which is Hotter; Sun vs. Big Red Star?”
I have been reading about our sun and stars and I went to a planetarium with my Grandma. We learned a little bit about the universe, but I did not find out which type of star was hotter. I thought a competition would be a great way to learn. Next Saturday I will look up the answer and see who was correct!
Here is what you do:
- Read the title.
- Think about your answer. Do not look up the answer!
- Post your answer as a comment.
Thank-you!
UPDATE
Everybody was right, the sun is hotter than a red star. Congratulations! Everybody who participated can now spend as much time with me as they want!
I looked up the answer using Google. I found the answer on Wikipedia, but Mom made me check another site too. Here is the link to Wikipedia if you want to read more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stellar_classification
Ol’ Papa, I also learned that the stars are different colors because of how hot they are. The hottest stars are blue and the coolest stars are red.

I have been reading a whole lot of things about mummies because the first book I read is called Pyramids and Mummies. I found it really interesting! Now I will tell you how to make a mummy:
- 1. Get a dead man.
- 2. Wash him in Nile water.
- 3. Wrap him in toilet paper or cloth.
- 4. Put him in a rectangular prism box.
- 5. Decorate the box.

That is how you make a mummy!

a story by Ari (age 6)
One day I saw a field. It needed some work. People had littered and it was weedy. I wanted to fix it up. As I started the work, flies surrounded me. “What shall I do?” I asked myself, “Shall I continue or not”? I decided to ignore them. They buzzed around me everywhere I went. I felt like I was a queen fly!
I recycled all of the trash. I sorted it and put it in my recycling bin. I put some things in my compost bin and had only a little trash to throw away. I weeded the field and put the weeds in the compost bin too.
When I got done, everything looked so beautiful that I couldn’t even believe my eyes. There were fields of muliticolored flowers and light green grass. I saw one tree that was so tiny. It had no grass surrounding it because I had just planted it and removed the nearby grass. It was a beautiful miracle.
Now other children can see the fantastic field and play it in. The Earth is happy too because it looks great and it is clean.

Let me tell you a bit about what is going on with my family…
Mommy is so excited that she is out of school. Her last day was Wednesday. This summer Mommy and I will have our own school. She is reading me a book called Little House in the Big Woods about a girl named Laura.
Abba is fourteen months old. That means she is one year and two months old. She is walking and walking and walking all over. Friday was Abby’s last day at Ms. Debby’s house for daycare. She will stay home with us this summer.
Daddy is getting ready to go to work right now. We love him and tomorrow is Father’s Day, so we will do lots of things for him like say “Happy Father’s Day!”
Friday was my last day of school too. I will miss my teachers and I will miss the kids at school. This summer I will make my own school with Mom. I will learn math, reading, handwriting and other stuff. We will go on field trips and have water days.

Last week I got a car. It is a Pink Barbie Jeep and I can drive it. Abby sits next to me and we can zoom! It is really fun.

It can go fast and faster and backwards. When I go really fast, Abby laughs a lot. It also has a phone and a windshield with no glass and seatbelt. Sometimes Abby tries to help me drive, but she is not allowed because she is only one year old.
